Create a Bibliography for library

Introduction: Bibliography entries must be written in a very specific format, but that format will depend you the particular style of writing you use. Your teacher will tell you which style to use, and for most school papers these will be either MLA, APA, or Turabian style.

Bibliography: A bibliography is a list of books, articles, and other sources you use when researching a topic and writing a paper. The bibliography will appear at the end of your paper. The bibliography is sometimes called Works Cited or Works Consulted.

Bibliography entries will include:

Author    Title of your source    Publication information    Date

Your entries should be listed in alphabetical order.

The main purpose of a bibliography entry is to give credit to other authors whose work you’ve consulted in your research. Another purpose of a bibliography is to make it easy for a curious reader to find the source you’ve used.

A bibliography is a list of the sources (books, audio visual resources, people, organizations) you have found useful in your research. You should not include items you consulted but did not use. A bibliography should be included, and is often required, at the end of your work. Sources should normally be listed alphabetically, by surname of the author, or if there is no author, by the first word of the title (not ‘the’ or ‘a’ or ‘an’). Sometimes a list of references is given separately in the order they are referred to or quoted from the text; sources can also be listed by format eg books listed separately from maps. Check with your teacher which is preferable. Above all, it is important to be consistent, particularly with punctuation.

Author’s surname followed by forename or initial(s), title of the book (in italics or underlined), edition, publisher, date of publication:

Conclusion: Bibliography entries are usually written in a hanging indent style. This means that the first line of each citation is not indented, but subsequent lines of each citation are indented.
